The Dark Place
I am much more of an optimist than I used to be, but sometimes late at night I visit that dark region of my soul that allows me to think the unthinkable. With all the crap going on today, I wonder if we are long for this world. Iran and North Korea either have or are fast-tracking nuclear weapons. Combine this with the rest of the nuclear community, and I believe it's only a matter of time before someone uses that power unwisely. Should we take out Iran and North Korea? Or should we just sit back and hope it doesn't happen? I don't think diplomacy is going to work with dictatorships run by crazies. Not to mention terrorists possibly getting their hands on nukes. Complicated matters in an increasingly complicated world. Technology does so much good... and so much harm.

The embodiment of good or evil in a soulless object (technology) is paganism. Never forget that objects like all of nature simply exists. It is reserved to man to turn 'things' to either good or evil purposes. To fear or hate the 'thing' is to absolve the 'man' and to turn ones face from the 'light'.
While we're on the subject of dictatorships run by crazies, I couldn't help but notice this comment I came across:
"As soon as this week, radical Republicans in the Senate are planning to pull the trigger on their scheme to break the rules of the Senate, seize absolute power over judicial appointments, and stack the courts with extreme judges. Overnight, some of our most treasured rights, like the 40-hour work week, basic environmental protections, and the right to privacy, could be in danger."
Without taking one side or the other on this, I couldn't help but be reminded of something I learned in history class way back when...I was led to believe America is supposed to be a republic, and was set up to secure a balance of power for ALL political entities, not just one. However, it looks like the extreem right want's so bad to squelch the opposition that it will go as far as to change the laws to do it ... democracy doesn't seem to work in their favor, besides, how can they pick and choose who gets fair treatment and who doesn't with a pesky rule around like "all men are created equal"?.... I don't know ... maybe I should just keep quiet, go on ripping off the red states, and tell them to smooch my behind ...
