RIP CBGB

The legendary club CBGB is no more. The birthplace of punk closed its doors after one last mosh Sunday night. Punk goddess Patti Smith delivered the fitting eulogy for a great landmark in rock history. She said, "You know what's sad? Turning New York City into the suburbs." The club hosted icons like the Ramones, Blondie, and Talking Heads. The landlord pulled the lease, and court battles ensued, but to no avail. The owner, Hilly Kristal, vowed to rebuild CBGB in Las Vegas using the original decor. Even the toilets. But it won't be the same.
