Sarah Palin

Just because I lean right doesn't mean I like everybody who is GOP. Take Sarah Palin. Please, take her away. I hope her resignation as Governor of Alaska means we won't have to listen to her whine anymore about the pressures of being thrust into the limelight and what it has done to her and her family. Some people are not meant for greater things, and it's lucky we found out about ol' Sarah before she was a heartbeat away from the Presidency. I never cared for her. I think she is a phony with all that "you betcha" talk. You betcha I'm glad she's gone, at least for now.

The Twilight's Last Gleaming?

Here on this, our nation's Independence Day, I want to voice my opinion about the state of this great country. I have not said much since Obama was elected, in order to be fair and give him some time to try to solve some of our many problems. Well, so far it doesn't look good. Even lifelong lefty Helen Thomas is livid about the White House press corps being fed questions in advance in order to try to control the news about Obama and company. Unemployment continues to increase. It's now up to almost ten percent. The housing market is still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Credit reform is a joke. Corporations are being seized and nationalized in an unprecendented manner. And don't get me started about the deficit. We are selling out this country! Is all the money spent really doing any good? Trillions spent already; and much more to come if Obama gets his way with national health care. Most of us don't want it, but like much during this first six months of King Barrack's reign, we're going to get it regardless now that Al Franken has been declared the senate winner in Minnesota. The already insufferable Democrats now have a filibuster-proof majority in Congress. God help us. I don't want to live in a socialist country.

One week from tonight is the most important night in the free world. In the whole world, actually. Whatever your inclination, VOTE.

Too Little, Too Late

Last night's debate was the high point for John McCain. The line "Senator Obama, I am not President Bush. If you wanted to run against President Bush, you should have run four years ago", was perfect. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. I don't think McCain was aggressive enough from Day One. He should have attacked the Democrats for vetoing any and all efforts to reign in the mortgage situation a few years ago. Obama is very good at debating. Too good. He had McCain doing all the work while he sat back and watched him tire out. Unless something radical (heh heh) happens, Barack Obama will be our next president. God help us.

It's Coming

The election is less than a month away, and it doesn't look good for John McCain. He is acting very tired, and not being nearly as aggressive as he needs to be. Physically he looks burnt out. Polls aren't necessarily accurate, but I think that Obama might win just because McCain isn't connecting with voters. Barack is coasting and making McCain do all the heavy lifting. He makes McCain look old and desperate. The liberal media won't go after the stories that could damn Obama in any way. People are pissed off royally due to the economy, and Republicans have to tap into that rage. The Democrats had plenty to do with this mess, too. But you wouldn't know it from listening to John McCain.

The Truth

Last night's debate was deadly dull. Barack Obama is spewing more of the same bullshit, and John McCain needs to call him on it. McCain did mention the Democrats role in the Freddie Mac-Fannie Mae meltdown, but needed to keep pushing the subject. The truth is, Democrats voted against reforms that would have reigned in the mortgage mess. The last debate is make or break for the Republicans, or Obama is going to win the election, and things will REALLY get fucked up.

CON-gress

Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of her partisan attack on Republicans before the House vote on the bailout bill. Whether or not the bill is the right solution, and nobody knows for sure, politics had no place in this particular session. There is plenty of blame to go around for the situation we are in today. (The Democrats certainly shoulder much of the blame- go to YouTube and watch the video). Something has to be done, and fast! Maybe today.

Just Biden His Time

Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden showed his lack of historical knowledge when he said recently that Franklin Delano Roosevelt went on TV to address the nation when the stock market crashed in 1929. OK... last I checked, television premiered at the 1939 World's Fair (and wasn't common until the late '40's), and Herbert Hoover was President in 1929. And they say Sarah Palin isn't qualified to be Vice President!

Hobama

Hobama is just loving the Wall Street crisis. He knows that it means better poll numbers for him... But, how come no one seems to care about his past involvement with that Weather Underground guy?

The Big Fat Oprah Show

That silly Opera, er, Oprah, won't book Sarah Palin on her crapfest because she doesn't want the show to become a "political platform." Jesus, what a crock of shit. Hippo-crite Oprah has had many political topics and guests in the past, including Barrack Obama...

Partisan Politics

Barrack Obama is a hack just like the rest of 'em. He said he would not engage in divisive, partisan politicking, yet here he goes with petty attacks on John McCain's age. Obama's latest ad portrays McCain as an out-of-touch old fool who went out with the disco age. The ad states, among other things, that McCain doesn't know how to use a computer or go on the web. Fact is, McCain does go to websites, he just doesn't use a keyboard himself; he has difficulty typing BECAUSE OF WOUNDS SUSTAINED WHEN HE WAS A POW! But Obama wouldn't know anything about that. He was too busy "managing a community." Whatever that means... Jeez Louise, doesn't age and experience mean anything anymore in this country?

Partisan Politics

The snipes being taken by both sides are re-goddamn-diculous. That is why I am an Independent. I lean liberal on social issues, and conservative on fiscal and defense. We need a viable third party. Maybe it will be the Libertarians. Maybe. Someday.

HurriCain

John McCain did the right thing in postponing the Republican festivities slated for today in St. Paul. Only necessary business will be conducted. Calculated or not, it wouldn't have looked proper for President Bush to speak if and when New Orleans was being pummeled by Hurricane Gustav. Katrina made him look bad enough... That being said, I can't wait to hear what the G.O.P. has in store in reply to the socialist rantings of Messiah Obama.

What a Week!

What an election year. So much history is being made. Barack Obama is the first African-American to be nominated for President. Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, named as John McCain's Vice-President pick. The first Republican woman chosen to run for VP. The Democrats convention thunder stolen from them by the news... wow. Brilliant on McCain's part. Two months and change until November 4th. I am not that excited about the candidates. I am excited about the democratic process. And isn't that what it really is all about?

Conventional Thinking

I can't wait for the Democratic Convention in Denver next week. I think Hil and Bill have something up their sleeves just waiting to jump out and hijack the attention away from Obama. They have been awfully quiet lately...

The World

With what is happening today, like China showing its true repressive nature at the Olympics, and Russia attacking Democratic Georgia, I am convinced we need John McCain and his war experience now more than ever. Obama just does not have the credibility to handle these and other international affairs. Communism is not dead; it was just playing possum. And thank God we found out what a liar John Edwards is. Imagine if he was a contender for President! What a mess that would be.

Back From Space

I feel like I've been on a long trip. I haven't felt like posting in awhile. I guess sometimes it's better to lay low and let things happen. The deep depression I've experienced in the past seems to be over. I'm exercising again (God, if I don't I'm going to balloon to 400 lbs.!) and feel better than I've felt in years. The drug use has subsided, although I did have a short relapse back in June. I am optimistic about the future and can even handle it if Obama is elected. I am not happy with the way the Bush administration has handled things the past few years. I admit this now. Maybe a change would be good for the country. I like McCain generally, but I wonder if he really has a chance. His age and the Republican Bush baggage seem to be insurmountable. We'll see. Get out and vote or you'll have no reason to bitch come November!

Hillary D.O.A. (for now)

So Hil is about to announce her withdrawal from the race. Could she be selected for V.P.? Possible, but doubtful. Do you think Obama is going to put up with Bill? I don't think so. If Barack loses to McCain, look for Hillary to run in 2012. She WILL be back! Bet on it.

My State in 2008

OK. I'm going to admit it. The Bush Administration has not been the success in dealing with the world I thought it would be. We have not been attacked on U.S. soil since 9/11, I'll give 'em that. I think this country is doing pretty well keeping the terrorists at bay. For now. There is still much we could do security-wise. Our ports really need to be secured. Airports still let all kind of items (and people) though security. Our borders leak illegals in like a sieve. Democracy is not busting out all over. The world doesn't hate us so much anymore, not because of anything Bush has done, but because China, Russia, India, et al, are too busy growing by leaps and bounds and sucking up food, oil, and other energy and resources. America had better wise up to this world reality, and fast. This is more pressing than "global warming." Most foreigners, I believe, like our people. They just don't like our government. Unfortunately, despite what the neocons preached the last eight years, it is much more complicated than "you are either with us or against us." I see that now.
