Confessions of an Economic Hitman

A new book by author John Perkins claims he was employed by the CIA to bankrupt developing countries by extending huge loans to their governments to keep them on the hook to the United States with large debt payments. Big corporations (think Halliburton) then were given contracts to build large projects ostensibly to help the poor, but in actuality most of the money went to the corrupt rich in these corporations and in the governments. And Perkins says this is all legal and has been ongoing for over half a century. He writes that this is the reason much of the world does not like the United States. Canadian singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn covered this topic in the mid '80's song "Call It Democracy".

Well...I know Bruce's brother, Dick Cockburn..we worked in porn together...along with Jack Meehoff...that said...yes, I believe the story...they are good at doing that to the American people as well...keeping people screwed down is a great way to maintain control over them and from ever being a threat to your power...marraige is encouraged for the same reason...forcing a spouse and kids on you is such a handy ball and chain on your life...it's so bad that most of the people suckered into it actually do alot of the forcing themselves...very clever, these SOB's...hope the don't get us all killed...
