It Was Not A Good Day

Yesterday was the kind of day that takes the wind out of your sails. We had a big "monsoon" storm, with terrible lightning, and heavy rain. (Over two inches in an hour and a half, which is a lot for the desert.) Our cul-de-sac was flooded like a lake! Then the power went out. It was stuffy in the house, and I couldn't sleep. So, like a fool, I ventured out looking for a Denny's with power. I drove our van through a flooded street and promptly stalled the engine. The damage came to over five hundred bucks. To top it all off, my elderly mother tripped and fell on her knees while I was at work. I was so worried.
