Big Brother

I had a very interesting conversation with a cable TV installer the other day. He was in the Marines, has a vast knowledge of technical and military minutiae, and agrees with me that we are being watched and scrutinized like never before. And it's getting worse. The other day, four municipal employees from a small New Hampshire town were fired for... gossiping about their boss. This has gone on since the dawn of man. I'm sure people have been fired for like offenses before, but four at once? These were valued workers who probably should have been reprimanded, but letting them all go seems extreme, especially given the tiny size of the municipal administration. The list of what is forbidden in today's society just gets bigger and bigger under political correctness. You can't blink without somebody complaining or getting offended. The constant observation of people using technology is only going to make it worse.
