Oh The Pain, The Pain!

As one of my favorite classic TV characters, Dr. Smith, said some forty years ago on Lost In Space, "oh the pain, THE PAIN!" My newly delicate back went into spasm overdrive a few days ago, and I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. It hurt like a motherfucker. Shot right down my left leg. It felt like a nuclear charlyhorse. They IV'd me with morphine, and several other powerful narcotics WHICH HAD ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT. At least, not right away. By the time I was discharged about four hours later, I was in la-la land. Yeah, yeah, I'm a bi-polar prone to additive behavior. Big fucking deal. I am not one of those, who, God love them, eschew any and all medication based on the notion that taking even prescribed drugs is falling off the wagon. If I'm in physical agony, GIMME THAT DAMN PERCOCET!!! AHHHHHH YEAHHHH. My tolerance for painkillers is sky high. I've ruined it with heavy drug use over the years. Handfuls of Vicodin barely register with me. I cannot abuse them unless I have huge quantities, and I was never into opiates anyway. I'm off the pain pills now, and my back is almost back to normal with physical therapy. I'm mentally happier than I've been in years, and Led Zeppelin might be touring this year. I'm in fucking heaven! Here's to 2008.

Toothsome

It's been nine days since I had a tooth pulled, and I'm still in pain somewhat. I'm off the Vicodin, but still taking ibuprofen a couple times a day. The dentist said I have "dry socket", which happens sometimes and causes extra discomfort. Oh well. I'm trying to remember, on this Good Friday, that Jesus Christ was nailed to a cross for days until he died. Now, THAT'S PAIN...

Tooth Delay

I had to have a root canal while visiting San Diego earlier this month. Then I started having pain again last week, so I went to my local dentist and found out I needed to have the tooth pulled because it was so cracked it couldn't be saved without spending, oh, 2000 bucks. I don't have dental insurance. Why is dental care so goddamn EXPENSIVE? The extraction was much cheaper, but much more of an ordeal. I thought it would never end. And now I'm in so much pain I'm eating Vicodin like candy. (Yeah, I know. I'm not supposed to take narcotics, having had a drug habit.) Well, I never liked opiates, and my mouth hurts like holy hell. So there. I'm not going to go on a binge because I'm legally medicating real physical pain. I would be much more likely to run out and do illegal drugs if my head was throbbing from toothache!
